Thank you for considering the possibility of hosting a Drop Site!
Our Drop Site hosts are an important part of our team. Here's what to expect as a Drop Site host:
1. Responsibilities
- A Drop Site host provides a home or other location where Laura can park for about 15-20 minutes every four weeks to distribute orders, and customers can park briefly for pickup.
- A Drop Site host also provides a sheltered, secure space that is accessible to customers, where Flex Pick-Up customers can pick up their orders "self-serve" style later on delivery day.
- If a host is using our coolers to keep orders cold, they will need space to store up to two soft-sided coolers (with additional collapsed coolers folded inside) between drops. *coolers pictured below
- A Drop Site host communicates with Laura if there are any concerns that need to be addressed, such as an order that has not been picked up or a cooler that needs to be replaced.
- A Drop Site host helps with simple outreach, for example posting information about the Drop Site to neighborhood Facebook groups, email lists, or the NextDoor app.
2. Optional Extras
- A friendly, engaged host is the cherry on top of a great drop site. Many of our most successful drop sites have hosts who attend regularly, pick up their orders with everybody else, and spend time chatting in line and getting to know the other people who are picking up.
If that's not you, though, don't rule yourself out! Some hosts are at work during the drop site time, or are otherwise unable to attend their drop sites. We greatly appreciate the generous use of their homes and storage spaces, their helpful outreach, and their communication with Laura about the concerns and needs of their drop sites.
- A spare freezer or fridge/freezer combo is great if you have one. However, it's not a requirement; we provide soft-sided coolers whenever needed to keep items cold for Flex Pick-Up customers.
- Ideally, the drop site is located within about 5-10 minutes' drive of the nearest interstate for easy access.
3. What's in it for you?
Our Drop Site hosts receive a host discount on all orders, free home delivery to their doorstep every four weeks, and a portion of each Flex Pick-Up storage fee forwarded to their online account in the form of store credit.
