All of our non-ruminant animals (poultry & pigs) enjoy unlimited access to 100% non-GMO feed that we grind here on our farm. (Most animal feed contains genetically modified ingredients such as GMO corn or soybeans.) All J&L Green Farm meats are GMO-free.

We are proud that our cattle are 100% grass-finished and raised entirely on pasture. We purchase cattle, so although we cannot control what they eat prior to coming to our farm, we graze all cattle for a year at minimum before harvesting. This means that we never feed any supplemental grain to our cattle; they are only fed pesticide-free grass and hay (dried grass) from the moment we receive them on our farm to the day their meat is harvested. 

Instead of grazing a single large field for long periods of time, which is the common practice in the U.S. today, our animals are consistently moved throughout the growing season to new smaller sections of fresh grass. This mimics the natural movement of wild herds, allowing grasses to regrow to maturity between visits, building healthy topsoil, and providing the animals with a constant buffet of fresh, diverse nutrients!

We opt for natural, plant-based ingredients like celery powder for our meat production processes. None of our products contain added sodium nitrate or sodium nitrite.

Visitors to our farm are often surprised to see pigs in the woods! All of our pigs live on pasture for a few months and then we rotate them in the forest in the last third of their life. Forests are a goldmine of edible goodies, which makes them very happy and adds complexity and depth of flavor to our pork. Pigs are naturally adapted to forest living, though few farms utilize wooded areas as foraging habitats for their pigs. This is why you will often hear us proudly referring to J&L Green Farm pork as "forested"!

All of our cows, chickens and turkeys spend their lives outdoors on open pasture. Being pasture-raised doesn't necessarily mean an animal eats only grass; ruminants (cows) sure do, but our omnivorous chickens & turkeys peck at bugs, worms, and non-GMO feed in addition to grass and weeds. *Our pigs are raised on pasture and in the forest (not just pasture) - see "Pasture and Forest-Raised".

Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a flavor enhancer that is often added to restaurant foods, soups, canned vegetables, deli meats and other foods. None of our products contain MSG.

As a family with food sensitivities, we understand the importance of knowing what's in your food! Our certified gluten-free products are produced in a dedicated gluten-free facility and have gluten-free certification.

These products have been produced according to the USDA organic standards.

These products are crafted by vendors who value quality all-natural ingredients over a crazy-long (artificial) shelf life. Steer clear of chemical preservatives with these delicious, wholesome alternatives to grocery store "industrial foods".

Fillers are additives like soy and carrageenan that help bulk up the weight of food. They lower the price (and the quality) of many meats. Rest easy when you shop with J&L Green Farm — none of our products contain fillers.

At J&L Green Farm, we think patience, time, nutrient-dense forage, and a low-stress outdoor environment are better options for growing healthy animals and healthy meat than the growth-promoting steroid hormone drugs approved for use in beef cattle and sheep in the U.S. We never administer hormones or steroids to our animals. We also use no pseudo-hormones, beta-agonists & ionophore antibiotics, or mRNA technologies.

As a family with food sensitivities, we understand the importance of knowing what's in your food! Our dairy-free products contain no milk or milk products.
